Description

Savory Philly Cheesesteak Pizza with flank steak, bell peppers, provolone, and creamy garlic cheese sauce on a crispy homemade crust.

Ingredients

Scale

For the Crust:

  • 1 package active dry yeast
  • 1 teaspoon sugar
  • 1 cup warm water
  • 2½ cups bread flour
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 teaspoon salt

Toppings:

  • 1 pound flank steak, sliced into thin strips
  • 2 green bell peppers, thinly sliced
  • 1 onion, thinly sliced
  • 7 slices provolone cheese
  • 1 cup mozzarella cheese, shredded
  • 1 tablespoon oil

Sauce:

  • Oil/drippings from meat/veggies
  • 1 cup heavy whipping cream
  • ½ cup milk
  • ½ cup Parmesan cheese, shredded
  • ¼ cup mozzarella cheese, shredded
  • ½ teaspoon garlic salt
  • ½ teaspoon black pepper
  • ½ teaspoon Slap Ya Mama® seasoning

Instructions

Prepare the Dough

In a bowl, combine 1 cup warm water, 1 tsp sugar, and 1 package yeast. Let sit for 10 minutes until foamy.

Add 2½ cups bread flour, 2 tbsp olive oil, and 1 tsp salt. Mix until a dough forms.

Knead for 5–7 minutes until smooth. Cover and let rise in a warm place for 1 hour.

Shape and Pre-Bake the Crust

Preheat oven to 475°F (245°C).

On a floured surface, roll out the dough into a circle.

Place on a lightly oiled pizza pan.

Brush dough with olive oil and poke holes with a fork.

Bake for 10 minutes, then remove and set aside.

Cook the Toppings

In a skillet, heat 1 tablespoon oil over medium-high heat.

Add steak strips, onions, and bell peppers. Cook until steak is browned and vegetables are soft, about 5–7 minutes.

Remove steak and vegetables, reserving drippings in the pan.

Make the Sauce

In the same pan with drippings, add 1 cup heavy cream and ½ cup milk. Bring to a boil.

Reduce to medium heat, stir in ½ cup Parmesan and ¼ cup mozzarella until melted.

Add ½ tsp garlic salt, ½ tsp pepper, and ½ tsp Slap Ya Mama® seasoning. Simmer for 4–5 minutes, stirring occasionally, until thickened.

Assemble the Pizza

Spread prepared sauce evenly over the pre-baked crust, leaving a 1-inch border.

Lay down 7 slices of provolone cheese.

Top with the cooked steak, peppers, and onions.

Sprinkle with 1 cup shredded mozzarella.

Bake and Serve

Bake pizza for 12–15 minutes, or until the crust is golden and cheese is bubbly.

Remove from oven, slice, and serve hot.

Notes

Resting the dough is crucial—don’t skip the rise time.

Use a pizza stone for a crispier base.

If you don’t have Slap Ya Mama® seasoning, substitute with Cajun seasoning.
