Description
Funnel Cake Bites are mini fair-style treats—crispy, golden, cinnamon-spiced, and topped with powdered sugar. Quick, easy, and irresistible!
Ingredients
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1½ teaspoons baking powder
- 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- ¼ teaspoon ground nutmeg
- ¼ teaspoon salt
- 1½ cups milk
- ¼ cup granulated sugar
- 2 large eggs
- 1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
- Vegetable oil, for frying
- Powdered sugar, for dusting
Instructions
Make the Batter
In a medium mixing bowl, beat the eggs using a hand mixer or whisk until foamy and light.
Add in the milk and vanilla extract, whisking until well combined.
Combine Dry Ingredients
In a separate large bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, cinnamon, nutmeg, salt, and granulated sugar.
Mix Everything Together
Slowly pour the wet mixture into the dry ingredients.
Stir with a spoon or spatula until a smooth, thick batter forms. Avoid overmixing.
Heat the Oil
In a heavy-bottomed pot or deep skillet, heat about ¾ inch of vegetable oil over medium heat to 375°F (190°C). Use a thermometer for accuracy.
Fry the Bites
Use a small cookie scoop or spoon to drop rounded spoonfuls of batter into the hot oil.
Fry 4–5 at a time to prevent overcrowding.
Cook for 1–2 minutes per side, flipping once, until golden brown and puffed.
Drain and Dust
Use a slotted spoon to transfer the bites to a plate lined with paper towels.
While still warm, dust generously with powdered sugar.
Notes
Batter should be thick but scoopable—adjust with a tablespoon of flour or milk if needed
Use a cookie scoop for even-sized bites
Always test-fry one bite to check oil temp and adjust as needed
These are egg-based, so they rise and puff when fried—don’t flatten them
