Ingredients
- ½ cup butter, melted
- 1 cup brown sugar
- 1 large egg, beaten
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- Pinch of salt
Topping:
- 5 teaspoons sugar
- 1 teaspoon cinnamon
Instructions
Preheat Oven and Prep Pan
Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
Lightly grease or line an 8×8-inch baking dish with parchment paper.
Make the Blondie Batter
In a medium mixing bowl, whisk together the melted butter and brown sugar until smooth and glossy.
Add in the beaten egg and vanilla extract; whisk until fully combined.
Stir in the flour and a pinch of salt. Mix just until no dry streaks remain—do not overmix.
Transfer and Top
Pour the batter into the prepared baking dish and smooth it into an even layer using a spatula.
In a small bowl, mix together the sugar and cinnamon for the topping.
Sprinkle the cinnamon sugar mixture evenly over the top of the batter.
Bake
Bake for 20 to 22 minutes, or until the edges are set and the center is just barely jiggly—it will continue setting as it cools.
Remove from oven and cool completely in the pan before slicing into squares.
Notes
Use real butter, not margarine, for best flavor and texture.
Want thicker blondies? Use a 7×7-inch pan or double the recipe for a 9×13 pan.
