Description
10 Minute Air Fryer Chicken Sausage and Veggies is a quick, healthy meal with protein and flavor perfect for busy days.
Ingredients
• 1 tablespoon olive oil
• 1 teaspoon garlic powder
• 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
• 1/2 teaspoon smoked paprika
• Salt and freshly ground black pepper, to taste
• 12 ounces chicken sausage (about 3 links), sliced on the bias
• 1 red bell pepper, cored and cut into 1-inch pieces
• 1 green bell pepper, cored and cut into 1-inch pieces
• 1 small red onion, peeled and cut into 1-inch wedges
Instructions
1. Preheat your air fryer to 400°F (200°C). If your model doesn’t have a preheat setting, run it empty for 3–5 minutes at 400°F.
2. Meanwhile, slice the chicken sausage on the diagonal into roughly ½-inch thick pieces. Core and cut each bell pepper into 1-inch chunks. Peel the onion and separate into 1-inch wedges.
3. In a large bowl, whisk together the olive oil, garlic powder, Italian seasoning, smoked paprika, salt, and pepper until thoroughly combined.
4. Add the sausage slices, red pepper pieces, green pepper pieces, and onion wedges to the bowl. Use tongs or a spatula to toss everything until each piece is evenly coated in the oil-spice mixture.
5. Arrange the seasoned sausage and veggies in a single layer in the air fryer basket or tray. Avoid overcrowding to ensure even browning; cook in batches if necessary.
6. Slide the basket into the air fryer and cook at 400°F for 10 minutes, shaking or stirring the contents halfway through (around the 5-minute mark) to promote uniform crisping.
7. At the end of 10 minutes, check that the sausage is heated through and slightly browned at the edges, and that the peppers are tender-crisp. If you prefer more color, air fry for 1–2 additional minutes.
8. Carefully remove the basket. Transfer the chicken sausage and veggies to a serving platter and serve immediately.
Notes
Air-fryer temperatures and cook times can vary by model. If you notice uneven browning, give the basket an extra shake or stir at the halfway point. For meal-prep convenience, portion into individual containers and reheat as needed throughout the week.
